The SmartNav AT4 is a movement sensor that allows people who would not be able to use a conventional mouse to access their computer easily.
It works by placing a small white dot on the aria that is easiest for you for you to move, this can be anywhere, but is commonly put on the hand, head, hat, glasses or microphone boom. The infa-red sensor then tracks subtle movements of the dot, responding by moving the cursor. The inbuilt software can be easily customised for different needs.
For a person with limited movement in one direction, the sensor can be amplified, or if they have difficulty staying still, the movement can be steadied. By using the software’s onscreen keyboard it is easy to type documents without the person needing to strain themselves.
Its gravity feature lets elements of the desktop attract the cursor, making frequently used icons even easier to select. For those that have previously used switches or vocal command software, SmartNav AT4 can easily be configured to use a switch or programmed to respond to different commands to carry out specific tasks.
