£49.00 Inc. VAT

SKU: CPD-IN209B Category:

This course will be invaluable to all teachers when addressing the needs of pupils with additional needs on a daily basis in their classrooms. The curriculum and its presentation in the mainstream classroom may present barriers to learning for some pupils – e.g. those with EAL – this course provides teachers with the opportunity to explore developmental disorders such as dyslexia and autism and reviews the impact of e.g. challenging behaviour and specific disabilities on learning. It finishes with a brief look at individualising the curriculum by using ICT.

Barriers to learning

This course is in 10 parts with a short introduction to set the context in terms of Inclusion, government proposals for changes to SEN provision in schools and the Equality Act 2010. The first 9 parts look in some detail as barriers to learning linked to:

  • dyslexia
  • ADHD
  • dyspraxia
  • dyscalculia
  • autistic spectrum disorders (ASD)
  • challenging behaviour
  • physical/sensory impairment
  • English as an Additional Language (EAL)
  • speech & language and other barriers to learning

Each part considers the likely impact of each factor on learning and introduces some strategies to support children with these conditions in the classroom.

Part 10 Individualising the curriculum explores some ways in which the barriers to learning identified might be minimised or removed and considers delivery of the curriculum in an inclusive way – including the use of ICT.
