Read & Write Gold provides the most complete support tool for dyslexic students and adults. Its discrete toolbar offers users speech feedback, spell checking and word prediction for practically any Windows program, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, DTP, encyclopaedia, web pages, help files or educational programs – while the Fact Folder, integrated scanning, talking dictionary and Word Wizard provide support for a wide range of tasks. Texthelp Read & Write Gold has been specifically designed for users with dyslexia and provides many tools to help access and compose written material.

New and improved features in Read & Write Gold v8.1 include a new button on the bar which, when clicked, allows a user to select the part of the screen they want read and it will appear in a window and be read with highlighting. The benefit of this is that it will work with all text, even if the text is in an image or is inaccessible like flash. The Study Skills Toolbar will be a toolbar inside the main Read & Write application, thereby allowing the user to make and collect highlights from Internet Explorer as well as MS Word. The student can now use a digital camera if a scanner is unavailable to download text to be converted to OCR enabling it to be read.

Read & Write Gold Mobile provides users with all of the features of Read & Write Gold with the added benefit of being able to take settings to any computer. Read & Write Gold Mobile stores user preferences and settings on a portable flash drive (included) so you can run it on any compatible Windows 2000, XP or Vista computer with no installation necessary. The Mobile version is supplied with a recovery disk.

The Teacher's Toolkit enables teachers, administrators or parents to customise Read & Write Gold to meet the requirements of the individual, including turning on or off functions (such as the spell checker during exams), and to monitor spelling mistakes and usage logs. The style of the toolbar can be customised to suit the age of the user. Users can chose whether they want basic or advanced word lists and definitions in the dictionary, word prediction list and homophone checker.
