Introducing the Toshiba Tablet PC
If you haven’t used a Tablet PC before, try one and re-discover computing! This type of portable computer has evolved dramatically quite recently and has now come into its own. The Toshiba Tablet range, for example, offers a whole new range of possibilities.
Consider this scenario: A dyslexic student is late for a lecture. He has to find paper, pen, marker pen as well as his PDA. He gets to the lecture and discovers that his pen doesn’t work and he only has two spare pages left in his A4 pad.
With a Tablet PC this will never be a worry. A touch screen makes for easy navigation and input. Microsoft Journal gives you a full-screen lined notepad to hand write your notes on, which can later be converted to typed text at the touch of a button.
Using the stylus pen (which fits neatly into the side of your PC) you can operate the computer like a large PDA, simply tapping the screen rather than using a mouse.
The Portege can also make your presentations come alive instead; of making do with formal slides, why not handwrite the presentation then modify it as need be while you are presenting? Alternatively, you can use PowerPoint and add electronic ink to your slides.
A Tablet such as the Portege encourages an interactive approach to both learning and teaching. For example, work can be emailed to a teacher who can then use electronic ink to correct the work before emailing it back.
The Portege looks like and functions as a normal notebook if required but becomes a Tablet PC once the screen is swivelled round and sat on top of the keyboard. We can also supply Toshiba Tecra models, which have larger screens, and can also be set up as a notebook or Tablet, just like the Portege.
These days Tablet PCs are certainly worth taking another look at.
