Text-to-speech software programs are toolbars with built-in features designed to improve literacy skills for both reading and writing.

The fact that the software can be easily customised to address individual needs (including the toolbar), is compatible with most windows based applications and promotes independence and confidence in the learner makes this a winner in my eyes!

I have noticed improvements in my students work in the areas of reading, writing and vocabulary development, but most importantly in terms of motivation and self esteem!
